A Day In Happy Land
Tuesday 9:15-12—Meridy Palmer
A Day In HappyLand is everything the title implies. This is such a fun quilt to make and when you take it block by block it really does go fast. There are so many adorable details and over 100 different varieties of wool in the kit. In this class you will learn embroidery techniques like backstitch, running stitch, french knots, stem stitch and lazy daisies. You will also learn to use the whip stitch as you do wool applique. Template applique will also be taught along with dozens of other helps. This is really a class about learning and perfecting so many basic skills. We will work on some practice blocks in class so that you can go home confident in finishing the quilt. I will also teach you how to make that beautiful scalloped border. It is one of my most favorite parts of the quilt.
There will be kits available to purchase but they are limited so make sure you sign up right away. The kits will include all the wool (already cut to size for each month), the linen background and the micro check background. The threads used for the words, the flower stems and the outline stitching are also provided. You can use your own threads for the embroidery details and for the whip stitching around the wool.
**You will also want to get your pattern right away. Mine only took a few weeks to come in but you will want to order soon. I just went to www.hatchedandpatched.com.au and ordered from there. You may find it in the states from a local dealer. The pattern is so well done and has lots of details. Consider sharing with a friend if you are both taking the class. (Please do not copy)
